In this artist talk, current artist in residence Eric Mack will be joined by Jessica Bell Brown --an art historian and PhD student at Princeton in Modern and Contemporary Art --and 2012-2013 AIR alumna Jennifer Packer. Visitors are invited to participate in what has been an ongoing conversation amongst the panelists, which will be framed in this iteration by the exhibition Everything, Everyday: Artists in Residence 2014 -15. Together they will explore the identity of painting as it manifests in each artist's practice; apparent differences in the external identities of their works; the art historical significance of abstraction; shared notions of form as they pertain to questions of the body; and interior notions of empathy from within the artistic process that externalize back into the everyday. The program will conclude with a question and answer segment and walkthrough of Mack's work included in Everything, Everyday.
