Studio Salon is the Museum's literary society that invites visitors to participate in an ongoing series of talks, book clubs and writing workshops inspired by our exhibitions and aimed at encouraging self-expression and critical dialogue. This series offers a unique opportunity for language lovers from all backgrounds to come together and openly discuss the intersections of literature and contemporary art! Inspired by Trenton Doyle Hancock's main gallery exhibition Skin and Bones, 20 Years of Drawing, this creative writing workshop will explore mythology and storytelling in relation to the creation of alternate universes. Led by author, editor and composer Daniel José Older, participants will learn techniques that enhance their skills in character development and explore processes involved in translating diverse source materials into compelling narratives.
