PUBLIC PROGRAMS & cOMMUNITY eNGAGEMENT AT THE sTUDIO MUSEUM in harlem
Surveying prevalent issues in contemporary art and black culture, the Studio Museum in Harlem presents a wide range of public programs that bring the Museum’s mission and exhibitions to life. With a vested interest in both artists and the sociocultural conditions that shape art, the Public Programs & Community Engagement Department works through a collective impact model that centers art, community, and participation in equal measure. We regularly take pause to listen, learn, and draw inspiration from those individuals and organizations already conducting amazing work in our neighborhood. Our programs—all of which are free and open to the public—demystify artistic practices, elevate creativity as an art form accessible to all, and open the pathways for direct engagement with contemporary art and artists.
